The Coventry Canal connection reached Bedworth in 1769, adding a new transport route to a town whose fortunes were increasingly tied to industry. Canals moved raw materials, coal and manufactured goods at a scale that roads of the period could not easily match. The canal therefore belongs not only to transport history but to the story of work, trade and the changing landscape around Bedworth.
