Ribbon weaving became one of the trades strongly associated with Bedworth. Local history connects the industry with Huguenot families and with generations of skilled work carried out in homes and workshops. The industry later suffered a severe decline around 1860. Exploring ribbon weaving helps explain both the skills that supported local households and the economic shocks communities experienced when established trades changed.
