Saturday 17 July 2021 brought Party in the Park back after the COVID interruption — a welcome return to the simple things the event is built around: people, entertainment and spending time together.
Coming back together
OutdoorArtsUK independently recorded Party in the Park in Bedworth on 17 July 2021, while surviving official social material shows the organisers looking ahead to the event as government announcements changed what public gatherings could do.
After the absence of a normal event in 2020, simply being able to put Party in the Park back into the calendar mattered. The 2021 page therefore sits naturally beside the 2020 story: one records the pause, the other records the return.
A community event finding its feet again
The detailed programme is still being reconstructed from contemporary sources, and we will only name performers and organisations when their involvement can be confirmed. That does not make the story empty. The significance of 2021 is the return itself and the rebuilding of a shared community event after an extraordinary period.
As photographs and original programme material are recovered, they can be woven into this article and connected to the people who took part.
Back to making memories
For families, a free local event offers something wonderfully straightforward: somewhere to go together, music and activities to enjoy, and the chance to see familiar faces around the park. Those ordinary experiences had become much less ordinary during the previous year.
The archive will preserve those family and community moments without inventing personal memories. Where people submit their own recollections, they can be clearly presented as contributed memories alongside the verified event record.
The next chapter gets bigger
In 2022 Party in the Park changed shape again, moving to Bedworth Rugby Club / Nicholas Chamberlaine Fields and adding the first themed Friday night. Continue to the next year to see how the weekend expanded.
